Even though this may not be a major purchase from a financial standpoint, it’s still a very important purchase. Don’t trust such an important task to a cheap, low quality baby safety monitor as the trade-off just isn’t worth it. Your baby’s safety and wellbeing are at stake so do your homework and buy the best that you can afford to buy and rest peacefully.

Wireless Baby Safety Monitors are very easy to use and can be setup in a short period of time.  Just switch the units on and position the camera on the babies crib and you’re set to go. If you are concerned about interference from other equipment then look at purchasing a DECT or Digital Baby Monitor.

Baby Monitors As Security Cameras

Filed under: Baby Monitors — admin @ 9:15 am

You made the investment to buy a baby monitor to help watch over your baby in the nursery.

When the infant has grown to the age that the monitor is no longer needed to cover the nursery, why not convert it to a security camera.

Nanny Cam
Baby monitor cameras can also be used by parents to record video footage when they are not home. In today’s society we constantly hear of stories of abuse from babysitters or nannies and it’s an unfortunate part of our society. Keeping an eye on your child at all times with the use of a camera can give a parent peace of mind that no matter who is looking after the child, they are safe.

Security Camera
You can use the camera to cover other parts of the house.
At front door to see who is there.
The back yard to see what the family pet or children are doing.

Although the baby monitor cameras are not made for all weather use they can be protected enough to keep them out of rain and snow. You can mount them under the eaves or build a protective box or cover with plastic.

Baby Monitors Interfere with WiFi

Filed under: Baby Monitors — admin @ 3:50 pm

A new report by Ofcom, the UK equivalent to the FCC, has identified baby monitors along with wireless devices as serious interferes with urban WiFi. This survey of Wi-Fi use was carried out in various places across the UK by Mass Consultants.

The report said that: “Our measurements and experiments suggest that the Wi-Fi networks are capable of carrying much more traffic than they actually do. However, interference between different types of devices is commonplace, leading to loss of service quality for many users.”

“Use of the word ‘congestion’ is misleading in this context, as it implies that performance degradation is due to high levels of usage, which is not supported by our measurements.”

“The drop in performance in urban areas appears to be mainly the result of interference from other wireless devices, problems in the wired Internet and problems with device configuration.”

Of course the reverse is also true that the use of WiFi and other electrical equipment using the 2.4GHz band alongside baby monitors interfers with a baby monitors reception.

My suggestion is to buy a baby monitor that uses either a digital signal or operates on a frequency other than 2.4GHz.

Baby Monitors…For Piece Of Mind

When you have your first child, you can be nervous about your newborns safety. You want to make certain that you’re doing everything within your ability to assure that your baby grows and develops in a safe surrounding. You think of everything; giving your child the right food, making a point that they’re safe, warm, healthy and more and the job can be overpowering. Thankfully there are many support resources for parents, as well as tools and gear that can be used to assure the safety of your little toddler.

Among the most basic items that every parent needs as soon as they bring the child home from the hospital is a baby safety monitor. If you are not acquainted with what they do, they’re fundamentally like a hands-free “walky-talky”. There are two parts to a Baby safety monitor; One part stays in the babys bedroom and the other part stays with the parent. When it’s turned on, you can hear every little sound that is being made in the nursery. You are able to hear sounds of the baby crying, trying to talk, coughing and even breathing. What these monitors do is afford you peace of mind and allows you to do other chores around the house when you can’t be in the room with the baby.

It’s not simply those with big houses that need baby monitors. No matter how big or small your home is, a baby monitor will insure that you always know if your baby is secure and healthy. For those that are heavy sleepers, getting a baby safety monitor in the nursery is essential so that you hear when the child cries or wakes up during the night.

There are many different designs and features available in baby safety monitors and they can range in price from very affordable $40.00, up to $200.00 depending on the type. One of the most important features to check is the range of your baby monitor. The longer the range, the better you will be able to hear sounds, even if the baby is on another storey of the home, while you are in the basement. Most baby monitors will have a range of at least 100 feet, but many can go even further. You can even buy a baby safety monitor that keeps track of your babies breathing, guarding against SID’s or other sicknesses in which a baby’s heart may stop beating. For such a modest investment, a parent can really have peace of mind.
